I hope I don’t lose friends that swear I’m wrong on this.
We’ve all seen the posts on Facebook.
They start with an affirmation that it works for them.
“This worked for me! I didn’t believe it.”
Sometimes the text says they saw it on TV, without ever saying where.
”It removed my Facebook ads. And their new algorithm limits who seems my posts to 26 people. Now more people see my posts.”
I’m paraphrasing, but they all make those points.
To get this miracle, they say, “Hold your finger on this post, then choose copy. Go to a new message and paste this text it. That’s all you have to do!”
Let’s break this down.
Facebook wants you to see ads. That’s how they make money. They are not about to give you a way to avoid them.
Your posts are not limited to 25 people.
How would copying text change anything? These messages never seem to explain. If it were possible to do this, wouldn’t it be a Setting in Facebook?
And they are asking you to post text saying it worked for you, before you even know if it worked.
Facebook themselves have addressed posts similar to this. And they have explained why you might feel only a limited number of people see your posts. It is well worth the read, since they explain some how the algorithm chooses what you see first. Notice, I said what you see “first” not what you actually see. You can always scroll down to see much more.
I'm always shaking my head when I see people share those and then see their friends following suit.
